idiocy

Wednesday, September 17, 2003

Sometimes you talk to strange people on the bus and it turns out all right.
This time it was a seemingly nice-enough young man who was asking my musical tastes, (the short answer is everything, but i am rather uneducated) and suspected some gothy-industrial vibe off me, tho i can't imagine why, but the knee-high fluevogs apparently were what clued him in, anyways, tells me to go to this show and it was tonight and it turns out
that he's one of the guys putting the show on, and he's business partners with this other dj guy i haven't seen in half a year or longer who's quite nice but tends to throw parties that i don't understand.
It was a lovely evening, and a nice reminder that sometimes those of the darkside are not enitrely idiots. See, I adore the aesthetic, the sometimes hilarious dark humor, fer shure the comics of the genre...but usually the humans involved are SUCH an annoying waste of air.
[Not that that's saying anything.
There are idiot-assholes everywhere, but
there are also good people everywhere, but they are usually shy burned or angry, and there are fewer of them born to begin with, so you have to keep paying attention and sometimes dig a little.
As with everything else, luck helps.]
Right, so, the gothy people...the culture's the same everywhere.
And the venues are the same. No matter where in the country you go, they are of two types. The odd pairing of out-of-the-way diveish bar with all the lights turned off to dull the impact of the video poker machines and the other one, which i prefer which is the cavernous concrete warehouse that smells of fog machine juice and clove cigarettes and is still full of idiots, but there's more room to dance.
I apprectiate going out everyonce in a while cause i can be wearing whatever the hell i want in as much stretch vinyl and a dumptruck full of eyeliner and nobody would look twice. and that's very nice. to be able to sass-out dance your ass off and possible fall down and not have to deal with frat-boy-cha-chis.
anyways, there's another show, Cruxshadow at the DV8 on wed. the 24th.
i may be unable to go due to political lectures and then drunken female rampaging, but if you're into that sort of thing, you should go, check in with your roots, etc.
