ahem, so, saw the buttfrenchers/triggers/electric eye show last night, and may i say goddamn. yep.
this town really has some great fucking music in it, and i am lucky to be here. esp. cause a lot of it is being performed for free (since everything is closing)...so as usual the place was packed to the door, but everyone seemed pretty well behaved. perhaps i just wasn't paying attention enough to the crowd but it was hard to pay attention to much else when anyone was playing, they're all so good. the drummer for the triggers is not only a great fucking drummer, last night he sang backup for the set with his head twisted around 180 degrees to reach the mic stand and it didn't affect his performance at all. great stuff. again, the great stuff that makes you want to break things. i didn't, because i wasn't loaded cause i've been tired and was uber-dehydrated, and i still had a great time.
there are a lot of drinkers in this town.
and a lot of musicians of all types (of people and music).
there are few groups i can enjoy as much sober as i do when i am falling down drunk. the north-portland rock kids fall into this happy category. they're great whenever, even if you have no idea what the hell they're talking about, let alone why you're drinking the Beast at 4:00 in the morning...
the next closest group i've ever found were the vancouver, b.c. punks (who are all also incredibly hot!!!) but these kids here win.
